Our Story
Souk – Flavors of the Mediterranean Above the Rooftops of Helsinki The story of Souk began with a journey across the Mediterranean.
The restaurateurs traveled through the region from north to south, from the Basque Country all the way to Morocco. Along the way, they fell in love with pintxos, bold spices, the wines of the region – and the unhurried atmosphere born from meals enjoyed in local markets. Souk aims to bring this very feeling to Helsinki, where only the Mediterranean’s diverse flavors, aromas, warmth, and colors can create such an atmosphere. Dining here evokes the sense of a coastal town’s market square, where the warm Sahara breeze blows and friends gather around the table to share moments together. The restaurant’s name, Souk, means “market.” It is a reminder of those summer days when the restaurateurs sat at sunlit marketplaces – and it brings that same warm spirit into the heart of Helsinki. Souk is located on the 5th floor of the Kamppi shopping center, in the Kortteli restaurant hub. Large windows open up to stunning views over the rooftops of Helsinki toward Narinkkatori, making the dining experience all the more unique.
