Our Story
At Restaurant Kippurasarvi, traditional Lemin särä is served — known as the oldest dish in Finland.
The roots of this lamb delicacy reach back nearly a thousand years, and the original preparation method has remained almost unchanged. The lamb is slow-cooked according to ancient tradition, resulting in a tender, melt‑in‑the‑mouth experience. Särä is enjoyed in the traditional Lemi style: unhurriedly and in as many rounds as one wishes. Although the recipe is simple, the preparation requires around nine hours, making it a dish crafted with patience rather than haste. It is always served with the principle “eat as much as you like.” Visitors at Restaurant Kippurasarvi are offered authentic flavours, a unique piece of Finnish food heritage, and a warm dining experience that attracts both locals and travellers.
