The Cock is a loveable, all-day full-of-life neighbourhood restaurant and bar where everyone feels welcome, even if in town just for the night.

From the bistro-like hipness of the street level, the spiral staircase wrapped in contemporary art leads to the candle-lit, red-brick basement – the extraordinary event space. The brasserie-style menu serves classics from our favourite kitchens both French and Italian, with some Asian twists thrown into the mix. The Cock’s signature dishes include Cock Wings, Linguine Vongole, Steak Frites and Steak Tartare – not forgetting the Fine de Claire oysters. The Cock carries on a tradition of its predecessor Kellarikrouvi, a large, classic Helsinki restaurant that always attracted both diners who sought romantic atmosphere as well as more party-minded crowds. When we took over in 2015, these premises had hosted Kellarikrouvi restaurant continuously for over 50 years — what a heritage to live up to! We saw our role in bringing life back to this jugend-style landmark, as well as shaking awake the entire neighbourhood. The Cock is located at Kasarmitori square, on the edge of the Design District (that we are proud to be members of) yet a stone’s throw from Esplanadi. Our lively and sunny round-the-year terrace opens up to Kasarmitori square.
